‘No Blame’ Divorce Explained
The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020 (DDSA) came into force on 6th April 2022 bringing with it an end to one party having to blame the other for the breakdown of a marriage. Instead, you can now apply for a divorce on a ‘no fault’ basis subject to fulfilling the following requirements:
- You have been married for at least 12 months;
- Your relationship has permanently broken down and;
- Your marriage is legally recognised in the UK (including same sex marriage)
